Nikki's 1st Birthday

Yes, I apologize, it has been a ridiculous amount of time since we posted. We are back, thanks to Issy for loaning us his laptop until we can save up for our own - only kink is the "s" sstickss, sso pardon my typosss.

Life has been grand. The sort of quick recap: Nikki seems to be progressing at the speed of lightning. Every single day there is something new, all of which I could not possibly detail here. She is walking. I put it in italics because she only does it by herself half the time, the other half she wants to hold our finger (causing serious back pain I might add). It is totally adorable. She also has expanded her vocabulary to now include daddy, mommy (which sounds more like meemee), doggie, ball, baby, up, gentle, b-for granny b, and I definitely think she said bobba at dinner tonight. Bryan and I had our first night away from home. It was really enjoyable, even though I dreamt about Nikki all night long. = )

So, Nikki's 1st birthday was all that I hoped for and more. We had a small party with the grandparents and it was amazing. Nikki had lunch, then her cake, we went for a swim, and she opened her presents - all with a smile and not a single fuss. It was an absolutely perfect day! So far my brother wins the top prize with his gifts of a glo worm (remember those???) and the weebles (same comment here). When she sees the weebles wooble on the tile, she completely cracks up.

Nikki getting ready for the party...having her hair styled, and brushing her teeth.

Nikki eating her cake, and also demonstrating her new skill of crossing her fingers.

A beautiful protrait of mommy and Nikki.

Hope all is well for all of you!

Nikki's First Official Word

It is Memorial weekend and we have been spending the time in the pool. Nikki has been saying many words such as mama and dada, but they haven't really been connected to us. This weekend she has started saying Uh Oh and connecting it to dropping things. In fact, she has been chucking things across the room or off her high chair and then saying Uh Oh - Of course we then explain it isn't an Uh Oh if you do it on purpose!

Granny B, Uncle Brent and Nana and Papa also came over for fun in the pool and a BBQ. I guess becuase Brent didn't have the kids, we didn't take any pictures. Anyway, we had fun playing badmitton, pool volleyball and grilling steaks!

Nikki got a new toy this weekend, her lion, which allows her to walk around. One of Nikki's favorite things to do is play with Cool Whip. All in all, a great weekend!!

Bobba & Zaida

This weekend Bobba and Zaida came to visit me. They picked me up from school early and we had a wonderful afternoon together...playing, eating (my favorite) and napping. It was also my first weekend in the pool this summer. Mom says I am like a fish because I LOVE the water and kick my lgs like crazy. Zaida sent Mommy some pictures, but she has been having "issues" putting them on here (whatever that means). You will just have to take my word for it that we had a super fun weekend.

Hugs and Kisses,
Nikki

Mother's Day

Our first Mother's Day was spent at a picnic with my Dad's family. I unfortunately do not see them too often since my dad passed away, so it was a nice opportunity to catch-up. We were at a beautiful park in Anthem and went for a train ride.

After that, Bryan and Nikki took me out for a special Mother's Day dinner. All in all it was a beautiful day.

Nine Months

Wow, nine months is sure shaping up to be great. It has only been three days so far, and I have lots to report. First, mom and dad took me on our first Family Trip. We went to this place in the woods called Greer. I have never heard of it, but mom said she used to go there when she was a kid. We spent lots of quality time hugging and laughing and playing. We also spent some time watching the stream...I almost fell asleep it was so peaceful.

When we got back to Phoenix, I was really glad to be out of my carseat after the five hour drive, so I decided it would be a good time to crawl. I have been crawling backwards for several weeks now, but haven't found anything enticing enough to make me go forward. Today, at 3:30pm, I discovered the tile mosaic in the kitchen floor...definitely worth going forward!! As a reward for my brilliant forward motion, mom and dad let me have my favorite dinner of spaghetti. Mmm, mmm, good...oh wait, that is campbells. Anyway, it was delicious.

Hugs and Kisses,

Nikki

My 1st ice cream cone

This weekend Alexa stayed over with us to join in on the girl time at my jewelry party. Her and Nikki have had a great time bonding over books - two brilliant readers in the making. After Bryan and Alexa's favorite dinner of In n Out we went to the mall for an ice cream. Of course Nikki dove for it and had her first delicious taste. The look on her face was priceless - more of a grimace really - but she of course loved it and kept crying for more. Too sweet!

Bye, Bye 30077 Montana Dr.

The gang went up to Prescott to clean out our grandparents house and say so long to the Prescott house. This was not easy as we all have many wonderful memories up there.
